The History of the Gator Club® of Volusia County
"We think!"

It all started in the 1950's.  We were known as the "Daytona Beach Chapter of the
UF Alumni Association".  The President of the Chapter in the 50's was Max Cleland.
Obviously we were a very small Chapter, but well organized.

In 1963, Bert "Gator" Reames became the President and started to lead us
"in the right direction"....We received our Club Affiliate Charter on July 1, 1970-which
authorized the club to operate under the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws of the
University of Florida National Alumni Association.
